Our Team About Maadi Psychology Center The Maadi Psychology Center has serviced both the Egyptian and Expatriate Communities in Egypt since 1980. Maadi Psychology Center was first located at the Community Services Association (CSA) in Maadi and then moved to its new location on Orabi Street in Maadi in 2005 at which time it became affiliated with The Behman Psychiatric Consultancy. The Maadi Psychology Center provides both psychological and psychiatric services for all major psychological and psychiatric disorders. All professional staff have international training and services are provided in English, Arabic and French. Meet Our Team Dr. Nasser Loza, MD, FRCPsych (Hon.) Consultant Psychiatrist Dr. Nasser Loza, President of the World Federation for Mental Health (WMFH) (Nov. 2021 - 2023), completed his psychiatric training at the Institute of Psychiatry & the Maudsley Hospital in London. He became a Member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists in 1987 and a Fellow of the College in 1995. He served as the Secretary General for Mental Health, Egypt (2006 - 2011), Chairman of the Scientific Council of The Arab Board of Medical Specializations (2012 – 2017), and Honorary Fellow of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (2014). He is a member of the editorial board of The Arab Journal of Psychiatry and The British Journal of Psychiatry (International), and served as the Chairman of the Middle East Division of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (2013-2017). In her practice, Mai works with adults, couples, and families with a wide range of psychological, emotional, and family issues including stress, depression, anxiety, panic disorder, self-esteem, trauma, grief, workplace challenges, relationships issues, and marital problems. She is trained and experienced in various therapy modalities and uses an integrative therapeutic approach that includes psychodynamics, emotionally focused, existential, and cognitive-behavioral therapies. Mai has a special passion for parenting; she received her parenting training in London in 2014-2015. Since then, Mai has worked with thousands of parents, teachers, and families on issues related to child behavior, parent-child relationships, school performance, divorce, and family dynamics. She has been hired by many organizations as a parenting and mental health expert including UNICEF Egypt, Care International, and The American University in Cairo, and has participated in national campaigns to raise awareness on topic that include positive parenting, bullying, and parents’ mental health. In 2019, Mai received the HUSS Award for her outstanding achievement and contributions to the psychology department at The American University in Cairo and the IFAH Award from Dubai for her contributions to the field of mental health. She has been a member of Psi Chi (The International Honor Society in Psychology) since 2019. She is also a member of APA (The American Psychological Association) since 2022. While completing her master’s degree, Amal conducted clinical work at the Psychological Counseling Services and Training Center at AUC, Al Rakhawy Hospital and Serenity Center in Maadi. Besides working with clients in person, Amal was also trained and gained experience in conducting online therapy sessions. Amal is now working at Maadi Psychology Center in Degla. During her training, Amal gained experience working with clients who are dealing with borderline personality disorder (BPD), Major Depressive Disorder (MDD), anxiety, self-esteem, trauma, OCD, and relationship issues. Counseling Psychologist Inji earned her Master's degree in counseling psychology from Webster University in Vienna, she is also a certified Mindfulness Practitioner from the UK College of Mindfulness Meditation. she got her professional experience and training from the Behman Hospital in Egypt, and Vienna therapy center in Austria. Inji is passionate about helping people with Mindfulness-Based interventions. She is trained to use Mindfulness to help individuals seeking general wellbeing, as well as to treat clients suffering from anxiety, excessive stress and panic attacks. Inji is currently seeing clients in Maadi Psychology Center Sheikh Zayed Book now Rita Kallini, Psy.D (current) Clinical Psychologist Rita is an Egyptian/Canadian clinical psychologist, currently doing her Clinical doctorate degree (PsyD) at California Southern University after earning her Master's degree in Psychology from Harvard University and her bachelor’s degree from the American University in Cairo. She is a member of the British Psychological Society in the UK and the American Psychological Association in the US. Rita has been trained at The Behman Psychiatric Hospital and is qualified to use multiple approaches such as cognitive, behavioral and exposure therapies. She works with a wide array of clinical disorders and has a special interest in Eating disorders, Personality Disorders (Borderline personality disorder), Trauma, Affective disorders, and their comorbid complex presentations. She has expertise in assessing and treating Eating Disorders as she has been trained by the National Center for Eating disorders in the UK (NCFED) and holds the Excellence In Practitioner Skills For Eating Disorders Diploma - Psychological issues underlying Obesity - Nutritional Interventions for eating disorders). She has also trained in Fairburn’s CBT-E protocol by Oxford University for Eating Disorders. She is intensively trained by The Linehan institute in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy for borderline personality disorder (DBT) and helps clients who struggle with emotional dysregulation through individual sessions and group therapy. She co-founded the DBT outpatient program and is an integral part in the inpatient program. In addition, she has also been trained by Melanie Harned for the DBT-Prolonged exposure protocol for PTSD and trained by Martin Bohus for the DBT- PTSD treatment as well as by Edna Foa for the Prolonged exposure treatment in post-traumatic stress disorder. Rita has also attended a REBT/CBT diploma from the college of cognitive therapies in London organized by CPD-psych and is currently training for EMDR. Living in Egypt, Rita is raising awareness on mental health through social media with the aim of providing more accessible mental health awareness & education in the MENA Region.
