Heinar Bolteya is a PhD candidate, a Counseling Psychologist and an Expressive Art Therapist. She obtained her BSc from York University in Canada, her MA from the American University in Cairo and is now pursuing her PhD in Expressive Art Therapy from The European Graduate School in Switzerland. She also holds a certificate in Integrative Somatic Trauma Therapy.
Heinar has diverse and extensive experience working in different settings over the past decade in different places around the world including: Mexico, El Salvador, Tanzania, Nigeria, Palestine, Greece, Lebanon, Djibouti, Syria and Iraq.
Alongside using CBT, existential and humanistic therapy, Heinar also supports her clients with the use of a holistic approach, that not only uses words, but also somatic therapy techniques and tools to connect with one’s body, imagination and creativity. Heinar helps her clients come up with new narratives through different tools such as embodiment, movement, visual arts, drama and writing.
Heinar has 10 years of experience working with adults, children and adolescents struggling with stress, depression, anxiety, self-esteem, trauma, grief and relationship challenges.
