Professional Counselor

Miriam Shenouda is a multilingual Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor with extensive experience supporting children, adolescents, and adults through trauma, grief, and life transitions. At Ahl Masr Burn Hospital, she serves as Trauma and Burns Liaison, where she provides individual therapy for patients, families, and staff, and offers psychoeducation to caregivers on trauma responses and attachment-centered CBT.
She also provides services at Maadi Psychology Center for clients with various different challenges; i.e. grief, anxiety, depression, trauma, adjustment disorders among other things.
Miriam holds dual master’s degrees in Professional Counseling and Counseling & Mental Health Services from the University of Pennsylvania, where she also contributed to research on resilience empowerment and mindfulness practices for youth navigating identity-based stress. She has completed over 1000 hours of supervised clinical practice across community behavioral health centers and group practices in Philadelphia and Maryland, leading individual, family, and group therapy sessions.
Her professional background spans diverse settings, including pastoral support in international schools, community mental health centers, and nonprofit organizations; i.e. Care International and CISV. She is certified in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and draws from psychodynamic and Gestalt schools of thought to meet clients where they need to be met. Fluent in English, Arabic, and German, Miriam brings cultural humility and sensitivity to her practice, ensuring accessible and inclusive care for clients from varied backgrounds.
